Jazz Dance

Classic Jazz Dance is an umbrella term for all dance styles born of jazz and jazz-related music, including, but not limited to, the Cakewalk, Slow Drag, Texas Tommy, Foxtrot, Castle Walk, Peabody, Charleston, Black Bottom, Breakaway, Lindy Hop, Collegiate Shag, Balboa, and Bal-Swing.  The term is loosely applied to dances that surfaced in the period between 1890 and 1960, although the roots and influences of jazz dance extend far beyond those boundaries.
